Your Enemy?
Sewing and Mirrors and Fairy Tales
Do you see the enemy in your mirror. Are you prone to talk to yourself meanly with remarks like “too fat” “too thin” “too much”? The enemy is not in your head. The enemy is not in your heart.
The enemy is not you.
How often do we hear some version of “Oh don’t think that. The enemy is in your head.” I actually call my brain my frenemy. Is that negative? I think someone telling me to not think about things is negative energy. How dare someone try to tell me how to think or what to think.
So maybe think about this. How about if we don’t call those negative thoughts “the enemy” or “bad things” or any version of that?
How about we agree that it’s just a difficult pattern we are working on?
or
A challenge we are in the process of reframing?
or
A puzzle we are capable of changing
or
any other more positive way of saying, “Yeah, I get it. I’m negative sometimes but you know what? I’m working on it so stop telling me I’m bad even when you are trying to build me up.”
Grin. It’s a process, darling dears. Once you realize you’ve made it, you too can say you were an overnight success–it only took me HOW MANY years? 😀
Yeah. Overnight.
Thousands of them. I just asked Echo how many days it has been since 08 March 1961. It was 23k plus!
Don’t worry if you slide. Please don’t measure yourself against anyone but yourself. You cannot be anyone else. You should celebrate that. This is your GO signal to be your own authentic self.
Take a hint from those who sew. Watch how they cut out a pattern. It’s a process. Lay out the fabric. Place the pieces. Measure everything again. Do you have enough fabric?
Most likely, you have plenty of fabric if you did it the way the pros do it. Even at stores that sell fabric, if you ask for 5 yards, they will always give you a few more inches.
Give yourself more fabric. Mistakes happen. Regression happens. You are a being in growth. Would you chop off a plant for growing out of its container?
Grace and space. Always remember to give yourself grace and space.
